F3 had the big radar that did not work.

Homing pidgin cracked me up, our navigators in the Canberra T17 were just as good and I was always in awe of them ( never told them that, of course ) .

Maple Flag, back in the day. With such a huge play area in Cold Lake, they could really open up. A friend of mine was an F18 pilot and saw a Tornado on the deck and by the time he got turned around to chase it, it was gone. Forget about chasing it on the deck. His words.

You learn something every day. I thought the F3 would have been optimized for high altitude being an interceptor.

Weakness: How do you rate the Hornet as an interceptor?

The Green Mountain Boys used to come up and play with their F16s against the Hornets in Canada. I remember that the Hornets had their hands full when fighting the F16s. The Hornet served Canada well, being multi role and tough. Kudos to the techs servicing and fixing them, especially in the Northern FOLs.
